On my very first visit to Disney, many years ago, I remember Downtown Disney (as it was called back then) being one of our first stops and I was in awe because there was so much to see and do. Fast forward to today and it’s now called Disney Springs and it’s bigger and better than ever. There are many differences but the one thing that has remained the same is that there are SO MANY things to do at Disney Springs!
Chances are, you’ll never be left scratching your head and wondering what to do at Disney Springs, but in case you need a few ideas to round out your list, here are a few of our favourite things to do each time we visit.
Note: Disney Springs does not require any admission fees, it’s free to access this area!
Gwen’s Recommendations: Fun Things to Do at Disney Springs
Our arrival day tradition is to make Disney Springs our first stop after we’ve checked into our Disney resort.
We don’t buy park passes for arrival day, instead, we head over to Disney Springs to walk around a bit, use up our first dining reservation and a few snack credits, and visit the places below.
Of all the stores, restaurants, and shows to take in at Disney Springs, Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC is my absolute favourite stop in the entire area.
It’s tiny, but it’s filled with all of the dreamiest vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free treats you’d ever want. It’s a paradise for anyone on a special diet or for those dealing with food allergies. Your snack credits can be used for all of their treats.
The best part is that what you find here doesn’t taste like it’s made without wheat, dairy, eggs, etc. Everything I’ve ever tried from here has been delicious and I visit as often as I can during our Disney vacations.
If you love the Christmas season as much as we do, then you must add this store to your list of things to do at Disney Springs!
365 days a year, no matter when you visit, it’s all about Christmas from floor to ceiling. Each year, Disney makes an ornament with the year on it and we try to pick one up each visit for our tree.
No trip to Disney Springs is complete without a visit to Goofy’s candy company. In here, you’ll find fun, unique sweets, from candy to baked treats. You’ll also find special-themed, limited time treats, as well as all the usual favourites like popcorn, candy apples, and cotton candy.
Take your time and browse around the store from front to back and I’m pretty sure you won’t walk out empty-handed (my kids always make sure we don’t!)
Many of the items in this store can be bought with Disney Dining Plan snack credits.
Rebecca’s Recommendations: Fun Things to Do at Disney Springs
We love Disney Springs. There are so many restaurants to choose from (The BOATHOUSE Restaurant has become a favourite) and places to grab a delicious snack or drink, but for this list, I’m focusing on the shops – because there are many amazing shops at Disney Springs!
One of the first stops we make is to the World of Disney.
This huge Disney store in Disney Springs is heavenly to walk through, and it’s always one of the first places we go because the kids know they want to find something special to use their souvenir money for. Plus, there’s something magical about the entire area.
It’s a nice way to beat the heat and spend some time.
Not only are the outdoor displays at the LEGO store something to behold (the giant water dragon is always a hit), but inside, there’s plenty to browse.
We all like seeing the creations on display and the build-your-own mini figure station is worth while.
Tip: There is a ‘fill your own bucket’ station where you can select different LEGO pieces. We’ve filled a small cup in the past and this became a nice quiet time activity in the room when we were relaxing.
This shop is a favourite for all of us. It’s attached to a souvenir shop, but what really draws us in is the art work.
There are sculptures, figurines, paintings, and drawings by amazing artists, all capturing moments from Disney movies, shows, and the parks. It’s like walking into a Disney art gallery that’s been curated just for us.
These were just a few of our favourite, must-do things at Disney Springs. What are your Disney Springs must see, must-do, and must-taste things? Let us know in the comments below!
