We know that planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be overwhelming – we’ve been there! So we’ve taken a few common questions, (like can you bring your own food into Disney World?), plus some other questions about packing & planning and answered them for you in this post.
Can you bring your own food into Disney World?
You can bring your own snacks into the Disney World parks with you. If you are on the dining plan, there’s a good chance you won’t need extra food when there – you’ll find that there are so many snack credits to use! But we know that it’s sometimes essential to travel with extra snacks ‘just in case’, for little ones, or for those with dietary needs. Bring what you need with you!
In addition, you can bring water bottles into the Disney World parks. This is highly recommend because not only can you refill them at water fountains and at many food locations, but on a hot day you’ll need to keep everyone hydrated for safety sake.
This also leads us to our next question and answer!
Can you bring a backpack to Disney?
This has proven to be so handy time and time again. Even though you can bring in a purse (a cross-body bag is what we would recommend if you are sticking with a purse), having a backpack to store blankets (for sitting at parades and fireworks, or to keep chilled legs warm in a stroller during the evening), sweaters, water bottles and snacks accessible, but out of the way, is so much better than trying to carry everything around in your purse or no bag at all. You can also bring your bags onto the rides with you.
In fact, having a backpack may help eliminate your need for a stroller, since many people use the stroller as the ‘stuff’ carrier.
What should you bring to spend the day at Disney?
Make sure to bring essentials that you or your kids need – this includes diapers, or medicine, or anything that will help ensure you don’t have to go back to your hotel or resort.
But in addition, we recommend bringing sunscreen (Canadians – in January, on a cloudy day, we may forget this one. Don’t do that! That warm Florida sun will still find you!).
In addition, bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, Band-aids (you’ll be walking a lot and blisters happen!), a wireless charger for your phone (just make sure it’s already charged and ready to go), snacks, and an autograph book and marker for character signatures!
Can you buy groceries at Disney World?
Yes, you can purchase snacks and small amounts of groceries and pharmacy items at many gift shops at Disney World Resorts. This is a handy way to grab items like snacks, fruit, and bathroom supplies that you may need or have forgotten to pack.
If you want to have more food in your resort room, you can also order groceries to be delivered to the resort from a specialty grocer service like Garden Grocer.
Before you go, remember to be prepared, but also remember that many of the items you feel you need are readily accessible right at Disney World.
