Gwen’s Recommendations: The Best Use for FastPass+ at Animal Kingdom
Without question, this ride is the best ride I have ever been on…ever.
Any word you can think of to positively describe a ride would fit into any description for Avatar Flight of Passage. It’s a 3D simulation ride (I love these types of rides) and you are on the back of a banshee flying over the landscape of Pandora.
It’s so realistic, you can feel every movement of the banshee (even the movements of its breathing chest!). I won’t spoil it for you, but if you’ve seen Avatar, it will remind you a lot of the movie.
This ride is part of Pandora, the newest section of Animal Kingdom, so there’s A LOT of interest to check out the newest rides and attractions, so if you don’t get a FastPass+ for this one, you could be waiting in line for hours.
On our last trip, we breezed through the FastPass+ lineup while the standby line was a 2:45 hour wait which is why Avatar Flight of Passage definitely made it to my best Use for FastPass+ at Animal Kingdom list!
This is another popular ride at Animal Kingdom and definitely one for you to add to your FastPass+ list.
Kali River Rapids a wild raft ride that takes place on rapid river…and you will likely get wet. It may be a light splash, or it could be a soaking splash…there is a seat or two in the raft that gets wetter than others and unfortunately for me, I chose one of those seats the first time I went on it.
It’s a game of chance because the way the raft moves and turns around, it can happen to anyone! That time, it was me and I got DRENCHED. Luckily, it was a hot day and the sun was shining so it didn’t take too long to dry off before our dinner reservations that evening!
My third pick would have been for the thrill ride Expedition Everest (one of the craziest rides I have ever been on!), but Rebecca has that one covered, so my last pick is going to go to be for either Finding Nemo – The Musical or Festival of the Lion King, the two amazing stage shows found at Animal Kingdom.
If you don’t have a FastPass+ for these popular shows, you could be waiting in line for a very long time or you may not make it in, which is why it made my list. A FastPass+ is also a great idea if you have a large group so you can ensure all of you are seated together.
The doors open 30-minutes before show time for those in the standby line, but those who have a FastPass+ will be admitted a little earlier and have the first pick of theatre seats.
Festival of the Lion King runs for 30-minutes and Finding Nemo – The Musical runs for 40-minutes and both are great ways to cool down since it they both take place in an air conditioned theatre.
Rebecca’s Recommendations: The Best Use for FastPass+ at Animal Kingdom
Every time we go on this Safari, it’s a new experience because you just never know which animals you’ll see, or what they’ll be doing. One year we saw a baby elephant, at other times we saw majestic lions and giraffes nearby.
There are many trucks going on safari constantly, but if you want to avoid waiting in the heat, or know that this ride is a priority, use that FastPass+ to speed things along. We are always happy when we do.
The ride is kid friendly and everyone is likely to learn something they didn’t know before!
This is a newer addition to Animal Kingdom since the opening of Pandora, but its popularity alone makes it worthy of a FastPass+ consideration.
Anything that welcomes a leisurely, but exciting trip down the river sounds great, especially when kids of all ages can participate (this is considered a slow ride). Much like the Jungle Cruise in Magic Kingdom, this ride welcomes visitors into small boats as your enjoy an expedition through caves and encounter rainforest creatures, accompanies with enchanted music.
Tip: Because this is in the newest part of Animal Kingdom, Pandora, you may want to time it with your Flights of Passage FastPass+ too as the entire area will have so much to explore in between FastPass times.
Even though this is one I didn’t go on, my husband did and he loved it. I actually think I would try this sometime, but there’s no way to get either of my kids on it. Even still, it’s a popular thrill ride so it’s worth using your FastPass+ on Expedition Everest.
I won’t spoil how this one goes, but if you like fast with some screaming and enough ‘oh my goodness what is happening?!!’, then I think you’ll be happy to hop on this ride!
TIP: Use the single rider line for this ride if you can’t score a FastPass+!
